Petrit Ceku, age 27
Petrit Ceku was born in Prizen, Kosovo, where he received instruction from Luan Sapunxhiu. In 2002, He moved to Zagreb, Croatia, where he continued his music education under the instruction of Xhevdet Sahatxhiija, and later entering Darko Petrinjak’s class at the music academy in Zagreb, where he graduated in 2008.
Ceku has won first prizes in numerous international guitar competitions such as Anna Amalia in Weimer, Germany, Emilio Pujol in Sassari, Italy, Andres Segovia in Velbert, Germany, Schadt in Allentown, USA and Maurizio Biasini in Bologna, Italy.
He has appeared in many solo recitals or as a soloist accompanied by an orchestra in Europe and N. America. His repertory extends from works of Bach to the works of contemporary composers. Ceku’s first CD was released in 2008 under the prestigious American label, Naxos. In that same year he was awarded the annual prize of the Zagreb Phiharmonic Orchestra as The Best Young Musician of the Year.
He currently studies with the world famous guitarist, Manuel Barrueco, at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD.
